Anderson Asphalt Limited

Anderson Asphalt Limited was formed in 1977 and is one of the market leaders in the supplying and laying of bituminous products for the construction industry in Hong Kong.  Also through a Sino-foreign joint venture, it supplies and lays quality asphalt on expressways in China and through a subsidiary in the Philippines high quality pavement projects.  It is also a specialist in laying pavement quality mastic asphalt particularly on steel bridge decks.

Paying continuous attention to development in both mixing and laying techniques, Anderson Asphalt is positioned in the forefront of the industry by providing effective paving and surfacing materials. It provides pavement materials for high and low speed roads, steel decked suspension bridges, concrete bridges and viaducts, airport runways and heavy duty container ports.

Anderson Asphalt has both an ISO 9001 certified quality management system and ISO 14001 certified environmental management system.  It's laboratory is also accredited to HOKLAS standards.

Anderson Asphalt believes that the most important innovations for pavement products in the future will be based on developments which enhance pavement performance. Anderson Asphalt's technical developments include research on stone mastic asphalt (to make mixes more resistant to rutting deformation), use of Trinidad Lake Asphalt (to improve the durability of asphalt), development of light weight long lasting mastic surfacing for suspension bridges, the use of polymer modified asphalt (to enhance asphalt properties in both noise reduction and heavy duty asphalt mixes) and the development of a bitumen based polymer modified water proofing membrane.

The Hong Kong Government's Airport Core Programs comprised eleven major projects - a massive undertaking was required to provide road and rail access to the new airport at Chek Lap Kok in Hong Kong. The link from the Central area of Hong Kong to Chek Lap Kok was opened on time in early 1997.

Of these projects, Anderson Asphalt participated in eight sections - the West Kowloon Expressway (North Section), the Kwai Chung Viaduct, the Tsing Ma Bridge, the Kap Shui Mun Bridge, the Lantau Toll Plaza, the Yam O Section, the Yam O Interchange and the Tai Ho Section of the North Lantau Expressway. It is justifiably proud of its contribution to the successful completion of these projects.

In addition to these works, other major and significant projects in Hong Kong during the period of 1987 to 1997 included, the resurfacing of both Kai Tak and Shek Kong runways, resurfacing of the Cross Harbour Tunnel, construction of pavements on Container Terminal 4, 6, 7 & 8, major road infrastructure works in Shatin and two sections of the New Territories Circular Road.

Anderson Asphalt has formed subsidiaries to allow development of its business in China. Anderson Asphalt (China) Limited was founded in 1995 and in turn formed a sino-foreign cooperative joint venture called Beijing Anderson Hua Xiang Asphalt Company Limited (Anhua Asphalt) with Lianyungang Hua Xiang International Engineering Company Limited, (an associated company of the First Highway Engineering Corporation of the Ministry of Communication).

Anhua Asphalt participates in the construction of new infrastructure projects (particularly expressways).  Anhua has completed four major projects and has another four in hand (end 1999) and it has been formally acknowledged by its clients as providing first class quality and performance.  In the year 2000, the company will add to it's PRC product line by carrying out pavement stabilization works.  The first contract is on the Beijing-Fuzhou Highway Project (Qufu Section) in Shandong Province.

Anderson Mastic (China) Limited, another Anderson Asphalt subsidiary, was formed in 1996 to take advantage of a unique light weight durable surfacing introduced to Asia by Anderson Asphalt on the Tsing Ma Bridge in Hong Kong.  In 1999, the company completed the surfacing of the Jiang Yin steel deck suspension bridge with mastic asphalt.  The bridge crosses the Yangtze River in Jiangsu province some 150Km up stream from Shanghai, which is China's largest and fourth largest in the world with a span of 1385m.

In early 2000, Anderson Asphalt (Philippine) Inc, another Anderson Asphalt subsidiary, secured a contract to participate in the North Luzon Expressway project.  The expressway provides continuity of a dual carriageway reconstruction from Balintawak to Santa Ines.  The length of the expressway is 83Km, with one fourth of the asphalt material being recycled from the existing road surface.

Anderson Asphalt is an experienced, competent company built on solid foundations - it will be paving your way in the new millennium.
